Lent 2023

Please see below for details of the fundraising event and activities the children will be taking part in during the Lenten period. 

Monday 20th February Burning of the Palms service with Fr Shyju 1:15pm in school.

Shrove Tuesday 21st  February: Whole school bake sale. The school is seeking donations of cakes and biscuits (Natasha’s Law- Please no nuts and include ingredients list of any home baked goods), which will be sold to the whole school on the playground at the end of the day. All proceeds go to Helen and Douglas house.   

Ash Wednesday 22nd February: Mass in Church 10:30am led by Year 6. Distribution of ashes to all pupils.

Thursday 23rd February: Key Stage Two Confessions in church for Catholic children that would like to attend. Mrs Concannon will walk the children to church at 11:00am.

As Easter falls in the school holiday’s the Years 4,5 and 6 children will lead a Passion Service on with songs in church on Thursday 30th March as part of the Easter celebration day.

Each class will write new Lenten prayers to add to the Lenten cross in the hall. Mrs Concannon will read a selection of these prayers at the end of each Gospel assembly.   

CAFOD Assembly and Fundraiser:

This Lent CAFOD is supporting families with the skills and tools they’ve asked for to fight the climate crisis. CAFOD will be leading an assembly in school and the children will be engaging with workshops before the start of Lent.
