Enhancing The Curriculum
At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School we bring learning to life through a host of visits and visitors.
Looking to the future we have many exciting trips planned. We have our whole school Panto booked, we will be travelling to Chipping Norton to watch Puss in Boots.
Upper Key stage two will be going to Harry Potter Land to complete a STEM lesson on Movie Maths. The younger children as part of their building topic will be visiting The Lego Discovery Centre in Birmingham.
Each class has a tripped booked for each topic to enhance the teaching and learning of each. The children in Vine class went to the Maritime Museum in London as part of the Topic on the Titanic. Children in Willow class have had a six week block of Forest school sessions led by Acorn to Oak. This programme ended in a trip to another forest school site where the children took part in activities such as fire building, toasting marshmallows and climbing trees. Oak class visited Kenilworth Castle as part of the topic Castles and have now just finished designing and building models of their own.
The Fusion team have been supported the school with the redevelopment of the school grounds and have been booked to return in April 2020 to complete a day of workshops covering exciting Science topics and Archaeology.
Through the year we strive to reach out and support the local community. Year six have been to spread Christmas cheer to the veterans living at Galanos House and will be singing at Helen and Douglas house before Christmas. As a school we support many charities and hold events to fund raise.
Themed days are also a wonderful way to enhance learning. We have plans to hold days for each class including a shakespearian workshop for year six followed by a summer production on this theme. We also welcome many exciting visitors to the school, these include authors, artists, scientists and many more...
